The return of Jersey Aaron (There goes the neighborhood..)
Hi everyone. It's been a few years.. I am sure most of you do not know who I am. My name is Jersey Aaron and I used to be a contributor here from 2003-2006.
I learned how to build amps from this website, and to this very day, I believe the 18 watt is the best sounding, most gig-friendly amp on the planet. If you read my old posts, you can see how I came here as a newbie, learned some things, and started giving back to the community in any way I could.
I did one of the early layouts for the Ritchie TMB, and later started a company called IRON SOUNDS(TM) with an electrical engineer (who also used to be a member here). Together, we developed the first PCB-based 18 watt amplifier. The amp (JA-TMB) became a huge hit with kit builders because it was easy to assemble and noise-free. Back in the day, this was a big problem, and our boards helped a lot of unskilled builders assemble great-sounding 18 watt TMB's.
Later, Iron Sounds developed a drop-in PCB effects loop that didn't require a tube and is a big seller today, especially with D'Lite builders.
Iron Sounds most recent product is a compact 18 watt "traveler" PCB which can fit inside a lunch box. It's a single channel 18 that has volume, tone, wattage control (VVR) and only uses 4 tubes. It can also have the optional iron sounds effects loop. Everything is on-board. The amp was basically developed because I tour the united states with my band and I wanted a small amp that I can check as carry-on luggage. It also had to be able to dial down to bedroom volume without sacrificing tone to accommodate bitchy soundmen.
Anyway, you can check all this stuff out on my website, or email me with questions. I don't know how much I'll be able to contribute to the forum, since I'm sure everything has been well-covered in the years that I have been gone, but I'll be around to offer my assistance where it is needed.
Thanks for reading and thanks for having me back.

Welcome back JA, your PCB's are still gigging regularly after all these years.
