Lorenz EL84s?

Post by DaveW »

Got one of these in an old tape recorder and it sounded so good I searched the web and purchased five more.

Posted this for the following reasons.

1. Anybody heard of Lorenz and could tell me anything about them?

2. Thought I would also pass on the supplier as they are very well priced and have a good range of ECC series, EL84 and EF86 tubes at a good price (6 euros for a Siemans ECC81) and the carriage price was also very fair (and fast).

The sites in German but, for those like me with no German, his email is very good in English.

P.S. No more Lorenz EL84s in stock

I'm guessing that Lorenz is probably just a relabler. So the valves could have originally come from anywhere - Mullard, Brimar, Sovtek, China... :? If you can post some detailed pictures, possibly someone may recognise what they are...

Lorenz apparently were a German Manufacturer

SEL Lorenz (Standard Elektrik Lorenz)

They manufactured EL84s and some Lorenz EL84s were made in the Siemens Munich factory, don't know which this is. Later Lorenz/ITT tubes ( Labeled ITT LORENZ) made in East Germany and apparently not too good.

Found some info here

Interesting site listing German tube classics.
